Who are we?

The Hedgehog Hospital was started many years ago and called Twiggy winkles farm. People began bringing hedgehogs who needed help to the farm because of the name so the Hedgehog Hospital was born to help out these little friends!! Following a dispute about the name it was later changed to Prickly Ball Farm but continued it's good work helping the hedgehogs and educating people.

In 2005 the original founders  retired and sold to the new owners Tevor and Benie Ward with Andrew Ward and Kerry Hughes running the farm and hospital.

Andrew and Kerry moved down to Newton Abbot from Nottingham after Andrews paremts (Trevor and Bernie) spotted the hedgehog hospital for sale. Kerry has always been in love with animals and has 2 horses of her own Shelley and Pride who also made the big move down to Devon. Andrew who previously taught IT for a large retail chain also wanted to take up his second interest of helping wildlife.

Since foot and mouth the farm only had the Hegehog Hospital and a few old goats. When we took over we only had two months to bring all the animals back and get ready for opening. As the farm had been run down it is very much an ongoing project to get the farm up to scratch in our eyes.

Since then we have made many improvements to the site both in the Children's farm section and the Hedgehog Hospital. We also try to bring new activities to the farm each year.
